The Truth about the American Church's Complicity in Racism
Online Book Study & Discussion August 6 - Sept. 10, 2026 | 6:30pm - 8:00pm Eastern Time
One of the most important tasks, if not the most important task, of majority white and white-led religious spaces in the United States is to learn about, confront, repent, and actively work to repair the harm done by Christianity to Black people in this country. The first venture of challenging church will be a study and discussion of Dr. Jemar Tisby’s book, The Color of Compromise. Dr. Tisby first appeared on my radar when I stumbled upon The Convocation Unscripted podcast on YouTube where he is in conversation with Robert P. Jones (White Too Long), Kristin Kobes DuMez (Jesus and John Wayne), and Diana Butler Bass (A Beautiful Year) on topics on the convergence of religion and public life. I strongly recommend giving it a moment – or many moments – of your time!
